Made in Israel by ChristiansMay 22, 2010
By Bob It's solid, pretty, and as pictured. It arrived quickly and well packed. I ordered it for someone who liked it enough that I bought another for myself. It's neat that it's made in Jerusalem (according to a stamp on the back of the cross) by Christians (per an email sent by folks listing it after I ordered it). A cross made by a communist slave in China with scrap wood from the furniture factory just would not have the same meaning or significance as this one :-) I've never bought anything made of olive wood before... it has nice grain and it's a little heavier than i was expecting. I'm surprised they don't charge more for shipping - It's unusual to be pleasantly surprised by shipping charges on Amazon :) There are some markings or stamps on the back of the cross with no explanation - maybe i'm just anal, but I'm curious what they represent. I'm guessing they're tax stamps or something along those lines. The cross has a shiny or glossy glaze or stain. It's made of two pieces, the horizontal piece having a notch in it which fits over the vertical piece.

Olive Wood CrossAug 22, 2010
By Pauline It took me forever to locate a plain wooden cross. I went everywhere; even to religious book stores and Hallmark cards to find one, but to no avail. One day I decided to look on Amazon and voila! there it was. Because it came from Jeruselem, it took about 3 weeks to arrive. It was worth the wait; it is absolutely beautiful! And, considering where it came from; so, so appropriate...

'Tis a gift to be simple......Feb 14, 2012
By Rene Peterson If you are looking for a simple, inexpensive wooden cross then these are very nice. The finish is shiny and brings out the beautiful grain of the wood. The two pieces are not necessarily fitted together very well and might have gaps. Because the grain of the wood has dark streaks, the gaps are not noticeable when the cross is hung on the wall. I bought three crosses - one for each bedroom. I did not want to spend a lot of money and wanted simple, wooden crosses. I'd rather spend my money on people, not things. They look very nice and I like the fact that the money goes to support Christians in Israel who are having a difficult time supporting themselves due to reduced tourism because of the violence.
Beautiful but flawedApr 05, 2012
By shelly The olive wood is beautiful, and the varnish of high quality. The flaw is that it appears that the plastic wrap was put on before the varnish was fully dry, leaving some duller areas visible only at certain angles in the light. I bought is as a wedding gift, and will still use (hoping that they won't see the marks), as I didn't want the hassle of return due to this being a crazy busy time in my life - but under normal circumstances would return it and hope the replacement was w/o the flaws. Would definitely order again, regardless, since the marks were not obviously visible (my husband had to point it out to me).

This cross was exactly what I was looking for, very good quality, I purchased for myself and gifts. My friends were so excited that they were made from olive trees in Jerusalem.
