you get what you pay for...Feb 08, 2011
By childministry I ordered this because I wanted an unbreakable Holy Family for our children's altar. It was 1/6 the price of a similar looking (in the photos) set made by Worship Woodworks. The set is adequate; however, it is very small (the largest piece is under 3 inches), not well finished (rough edges and poor varnish), and generally not fantastic. Worth the price for what it is, but if you want a nice set, save for the better ones.

My favorite nativity setNov 04, 2008
By Joanna Lamb My mother bought this set more than thirty years ago, and I grew up playing with it. Every year my sister and brothers and I would take out the nativity (ours had a stable with it) and re-enact the whole Christmas story. We never tired of playing with these beautiful pieces. The abrtract simplicity of the figures gave more scope for our imaginations than any fancy carved or painted set ever could. Ever since I married and moved away from my parents' house, I've missed this nativity! So when my sister bought one for me this fall, I was ecstatic. The pieces are nearly identical to the ones I grew up with (though of course these animals still have all four legs - my mother's no longer do, after years of making the donkey carry Mary into the stable!). I can't wait until I can share this nativity set with my own children. And until then, this nativity will still have pride of place in my house at Christmas.

poorly sandedOct 31, 2010
By jaxnmillie I was so excited to find this nativity set as I had been looking for a wooden one for my daughter to play with this season. I was disappointed when it arrived. The figures are fairly abstract, which is ok with me. They are rough and we will have to spend hours sanding these before our daughter can play with them.

Super Fast - Super PerfectFeb 10, 2010
By Mondo Watch I had one of these sets when I was a child (grandparents brought it back as a gift for our family). I would set up the nativity over and over, and play with the pieces. It was awesome. I wanted something that my kinetic learning children could enjoy, I would feel like they were going to break and cost alot to replace, and build a legacy w/something I loved as a kid.
They're simple, strong, and great.
We started reading books about the birth of Jesus, and having the pieces away from the manager, then added to the scene as they're introduced in the book. My 3 and 5 yo kids have a much better understanding of the birth of Jesus now.

Not appealing to children (or adults)Dec 28, 2011
By preschool teacher I searched for a non-breakable small creche to use in my preschool class, but this did not meet my needs. First of all, the pieces are tiny and non-descript, not at all appealing to children. I could make out 3 kings, but no shepherds, and Mary and Joseph were difficult to tell apart. Besides that, the baby Jesus had his arms stretched out as if he were being crucified, and his manger bed was shaped like a coffin!
